WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER

Well last week, I was lucky enough to be a part of the Wet Hot American Summer 10th Anniversary art show here at Gallery 1988 in LA. I had such an amazing time! Below are the two pieces I did for the show and a couple pics from the event. The director David Wain (seen below with my piece!) was there chatting with fans and signing autographs as well as Ken Marino (who actually bought my piece!!!) and Joe Lo Truglio. All of them were the nicest guys ever. It was such a great time. You can still check out the show, find details here.

Usually, I try not to submit any pop culture related designs to threadless. I have nothing against them as I've actually done quite a few myself, but I try to keep my threadless designs a bit more original, abstract, weird, and or dumb. Now I've thrown all that out the window because I just submitted a LOST inspired tee to threadless. But I promise it will (probably) be the last pop culture tee I submit there.

It's where I'll be posting all of my comics which I hope to be doing more of in the future. Quick update! DBH reprinted my Modern Cartoon design in a new color. I think it looks pretty great and if worn with red sweat pants it would make a great outfit for Midnight Mass on Xmas Eve.

I'm going to keep all my threadless related artwork over at society6 and open up another shop at inPRNT to try out some more prints. Test the water in both to see which works better. Gone Fishing (and stuff)

Tomorrow, I'm hitting the road. I'm heading to Thailand for about 5 weeks and then over to Australia for another 4. Then I head back home and then I take a nap! I'm really excited for this and I've been planning it for quite a while now. I've wanted to go for a lot of reasons, but mainly just to get away from my day to day routine for a little while. I'm hoping this trip will give me a bit of time to figure out what's important to me and some time to think. I'm not looking for any amazing revelations or epiphanies or spiritual mind journ-e's, just trying to hang out for a while and live a bit differently than I'm used to. It's gonna be fun/hard trying to survive without my phone, computer, internet, .movs, .gifs, and all the other lovely things I enjoy so much, but I'm looking forward to it.

So unfortunately, I wont be replying to many emails or blogging too much while I'm away, but if you need me I'll always be right here... *points to your heart* *points to your brain* If you'd like to get in touch with me regarding work or any projects you'd like to work together on please feel free to email me, but BE WARNED... I may not be able to reply until I get back.

I get back to the states on the 21st of May. (with lots of doodles and photos)

Buy a Pokémon and Help a Friend

An extremely close friend of mine, Matthew Kelly, was recently in a very serious accident while riding his bike. On December 18th, he was struck by a semi and has suffered serious injuries to the lower half of his body. Already having undergone multiple surgeries, Matt is still in bad shape and the real surgery has yet to come.

In the coming days and weeks Matt will have many challenges, physical and financial. I'm selling these injured pokémon paintings to raise money for my friend, Matt and his family. Give one of these little paintings a home and you'll be directly helping someone who truly does need your help. Thank you so much for taking a look.

Turkey

Heading down to san diego for a while and since I'll be there for Thanksgiving, I'm not sure if I'll have many uploads till after that. I went classic turkey on this and referenced my hand from MEMORY! can you believe it?! The turkey was drawn from MEMORY too! (Both are pretty spot on if you ask me)

Lost - "The White Rabbit" (deleted scene)

I found this on a special edition Lost DVD that I bought from Wal Mart. It was the only copy probably. It features Jack, Locke, and a white rabbit.

Comic-Con Art Show Trip

Next Wednesday I'll be heading back down to San Diego for Comic-Con, gallery shows, Disneylands and more! During the weekend of Comic-Con, Subtext Gallery will be having an art show featuring tons of amazing superhero themed artwork! (Including the pokemon paintings up above) It should be a lot of fun and it's just for one quick weekend, so check it out if you can. More info here.
